Lake George adds a new marker of wartime history

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - On Sunday, another bit of Lake George history was immortalized in marker form at Battlefield Park. Faces of history, community, and politics came together to welcome the marker, placed in honor of a fateful battle in 1780. Around 40 onlookers joined Lake George Town Supervisor Dennis Dickinson, Deputy Town Supervisor Vinnie Crocitto, and State Senator Dan Stec at the entrance to Battlefield Park on Sunday. They welcomed a marker dedicated to the final destruction of Fort George in 1780. Mizzou fraternities produce hazing prevention video

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Two years after a horrific hazing incident left a University of Missouri-Columbia freshman blind and unable to talk or walk, 16 fraternities at the university have produced and released a video designed to reduce and prevent future tragedies.The video, called "Arm Yourself to Say No," will be shown to incoming pledges, fraternity members, officers, and other student groups during the fall semester.“Although aspects of the video are emotionally charged, the aim of the production is to effect a change in behavior among the groups to which it is targeted," said Bob Selsor, president of the Mizzou Greek Alliance. The 26-minute video shows the dangers of hazing and the consequences for those who participate in such behavior.The Mizzou Greek Alliance was formed in 2022 by 16 campus fraternities to enrich the experience of Greek student life, foster safe practices within the organizations, advocate campus-wide support for fraternities by modernizing their culture and promot...

Metrolink makes major expansion on Antelope Valley line

Metrolink will be offering more late night service on weekdays and doubling the amount of trains in service on weekends along its Antelope Valley line beginning Oct. 23.The planned schedule changes will see the Southern California commuter rail service add nine new trains onto the Antelope Valley line, giving riders more flexibility and much later service on weekdays.The Antelope Valley line runs between Lancaster and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.Weekday riders can now catch a ride on Metrolink departing from Lancaster as late as 10:11 p.m., and as late as 11:39 p.m. from Union Station in Los Angeles. Previously, the latest you could depart on weekdays from Lancaster was 6:11 p.m. and 9:39 p.m. from Union Station.
