Plant thief hits Granite City park, stealing flowers, garden equipment

GRANITE CITY, Ill. - FOX 2 has learned thieves have been repeatedly targeting a St. Louis area gem, the historic botanical garden Wilson Park in Granite City. They are stealing planted flowers by the dozen and lawn and garden equipment.“I consider (the garden) the heart of Granite City,” said Patrice Chandler, a visitor Thursday. “I just think it’s a special place. LOUIS - A criminal defendant accused of stealing a car at gunpoint was released on an ankle monitor after repeated delays by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.The defendant, Levi Henning, also once faced a murder charge that was previously dropped because of prosecutor failures.Only FOX 2 was in the courtroom when the judge faced a difficult decision, exacerbated by a no-show prosecutor.Judge Clinton Wright acknowledged that a new prosecutor’s office administration seems intent on doing better at avoiding future justice delays. And there are some indications that this pattern could be what’s called a Super Niño. By Ryan Spencer, Summit DailyA pair of transformers caught fire in Silverthorne late Thursday morning, May 18, knocking out power for hundreds, including at the Silverthorne Recreation Center and Silverthorne Town Hall, according to Summit Fire & EMS.No one was injured, and no damage to town property has been reported, Silverthorne communications manager Kristina Nayden said in a statement. Due to the power outage, the Recreation Center is closed until further notice, and Silverthorne Town Hall can only provide limited services, Nayden said. Armed and dangerous motorcyclist taken into custody after pursuit in L.A. County

A motorcyclist who was considered armed and dangerous led police on a nearly hour-long chase through the west end of the San Fernando Valley Thursday night before eventually being taken into custody.  Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 23000 block of Windom Street in West Hills at around 5 p.m. on calls of a person suffering a possible mental health condition.  “Upon arrival, the officers made contact with the subject who pointed a handgun at officers,” police said.  As police set up a containment zone and requested backup, the man exited the home’s garage on a motorcycle and led police in chase.  On Mullholland Drive, the suspect was clocked traveling at speeds near 70 miles per hour on the windy roadway.
