Roberto Mojo-Sanchez Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run on South Riverside Avenue [Rialto, CA] Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Near Santa Ana AvenueRIALTO, CA (June 19, 2023) – Police arrested Roberto Mojo-Sanchez following a hit-and-run collision on South Riverside Avenue Monday night.The fatal crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the 2500 block of S. Riverside Avenue and Santa Ana Avenue.Based on the initial investigation, a northbound vehicle in the no. 1 lane of Riverside Avenue hit the pedestrian walking in the traffic lanes. However, the driver did not stop to render aid and continued driving.Additionally, investigators believed that several other vehicles hit the victim that was left lying in the roadway. The responding officers, unfortunately, declared the woman dead at the scene.On June 14th, a resident’s tip call helped the authorities to identify and arrest the suspect. 50-year-old Roberto Mojo-Sanchez of Colton was detained and booked into West Valley Detention Center for hit-and-run.Authorities later recovered the suspect’s vehicle from his family member’s home ...

Tornadoes tear through Mississippi overnight; at least 1 dead, more than 20 hurt By Michael Goldberg | Associated Press/Report for AmericaJACKSON, MISS. — Multiple tornadoes swept through Mississippi overnight, killing one and injuring nearly two dozen, officials said Monday.State emergency workers were still working with counties to assess the damage from storms in which high temperatures and hail in some areas accompanied tornadoes. The death and injuries were reported by officials in eastern Mississippi’s Jasper County.The small, rural town of Louin bore the brunt of the damage. Drone footage and photos showed wide expanses of debris-covered terrain, decimated homes and mangled trees. At least one person was lifted from the wreckage in a stretcher.Most of the people injured in Jasper County, including the person who died, were transported to the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel between 2 and 3 a.m., said Becky Collins, a spokeswoman for the facility. Hendrix tribute band kicks off Milpitas’ Summer Concert Series Ralph Woodson’s Purple Haze is not your typical tribute band. Woodson has studied his idol Jimi Hendrix to the point of being able to play the guitar behind his back and with his teeth. Woodson is a Hendrix authority, and that knowledge was on display June 16 at the kickoff of Milpitas’ Summer Concert Series at Sunnyhills Albert Augustine Jr. Memorial Park.The band’s set brought back memories for those in the crowd who grew up with Hendrix’s music. “I had a band in high school, and I played these songs,” said Henry Nichols, who graduated from Samuel Ayer High School in Milpitas in 1968.The free summer concert series rolls on through early August. Submarine that takes tourists to see Titanic wreckage reported missing; Coast Guard leads search (CNN) — The US Coast Guard launched a search and rescue operation Monday for a submarine that went missing during an expedition to the wreckage of the Titanic, CNN partner CTV News reported.The group conducting the trip, Oceangate Expeditions, said it is “exploring and mobilizing all options to bring the crew back safely.”“Our entire focus is on the crewmembers in the submersible and their families. We are deeply thankful for the extensive assistance we have received from several government agencies and deep sea companies in our efforts to reestablish contact with the submersible,” the group said. “We are working toward the safe return of the crewmembers.”The submersible holds up to five people, the company says on its website. 2 in custody after Pier 39 shooting that left 6 injured SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Six people were injured Sunday evening after a shooting near Pier 39, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) confirmed to KRON4.
