Twins third baseman Royce Lewis adapts on the fly

Royce Lewis’s development path was anything but traditional.Lewis should’ve been heading back to Double-A Wichita, where he had played in 33 games to cap the 2019 season, when the pandemic hit. Instead, he was rerouted to the alternate site, where he spent the summer training at CHS Field. His entire 2021 season was wiped out by his first anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee. By the time he reached the majors last season, he had only played in 24 games at Triple-A. He ended up tearing his ACL once more in late May, requiring a second surgery and robbing him of another year. And so the former No. 1 overall pick has had to spend a lot of time learning on the fly, adjusting to the majors after spending very little time in the high minors. He’s handled that challenge well.Lewis, who hit a go-ahead single in Sunday’s win, entered Monday’s series opener with the Braves hitting .333 with a .357 on-base percentage, .506 slugging percentage and .863 on-base plus sluggi...Forest Lake man charged in St. Paul woman’s hit-and-run death

Aurora police on Monday released five additional videos of the events leading up to the shooting of 14-year-old Jor’Dell Richardson earlier this month. The videos, all of which are less than three minutes, show various angles of the teens fleeing what police called suspicious activity at an Aurora strip mall. One video, taken from the alley, shows officers chasing Richardson and taking him to the ground. The video, though, is blurry during the time in which Officer Roch Gruszeczka shot and killed the teen. Another video does not show any of the teens or officers, but a gunshot can be heard.Richardson’s family had called for Aurora to release all videos of the incident. Sean Keeler: You enter a Yugo in the Daytona 500, the Yugo gets lapped in said Daytona 500, and this is somehow the driver’s fault? Joe McCarthy couldn’t win with this Rockies roster. John McGraw couldn’t win with this Rockies roster. So after a 25-1 loss to the Angels, the temple somehow needs to fall on manager Bud Black’s head? Now as much as we enjoy chewing the fat with the skipper, we get it — Buddy ain’t no Bobby Cox. Jurickson Profar should never hit higher than seventh in a serious batting order. But then again, this isn’t a serious roster. Ownership and the front office have tag-teamed to parallel park the Rox into one of the tightest spaces in baseball purgatory. The end result? A clubhouse torn between high-priced veterans who can’t stop getting hurt (Kris Bryant, Charlie Blackmon) and kids who need to play (Ezequiel Tovar), play a lot, learn to fail at the big-league level and, most importantly, learn how to recover from that failure while still keeping their head...Denver airport scores RTD EcoPasses for restaurant and retail workers who rely on transit

Nearly 3,000 people who work at restaurants, shops and kiosks at Denver International Airport have received access to cheaper or subsidized transit passes this year under an EcoPass deal that received formal approval Monday from city leaders. Some concessionaires who operate businesses in the airport had provided workers with passes to use the Regional Transportation District’s A-Line train or buses to get to work. But others couldn’t afford it — or were too small to qualify for the lower per-worker EcoPass rates given to large employers. So DIA negotiated an arrangement with RTD in which the airport serves as a master contractor for EcoPasses and then passes the cost along to operators who hold 74 concessions contracts. The Denver City Council approved the one-year, $1.9 million deal as part of a block vote, but the arrangement actually took effect Jan. 1. Concessionaires paid $632 per employee for 2023, a rate that slashes up to $442 off what they would pay on their...Dash camera footage shows 710 Freeway crash that killed 5 people
