Police have been on the scene of a standoff involving a barricaded man in Charlestown for hours.A call came in at 4:27 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man barricaded within an apartment building at 30 Caldwell St. Police have been at the scene since that time, according to Officer Michael Torigian, a Boston Police Department spokesman.The event has been labeled a “Code 99,” which can mean multiple things including a barricaded suspect, he said.Another department spokesman on the scene confirmed that there had been no violent incidents during the barricade situation but that police remained on the scene.In a separate incident, the evening became even more chaotic as other officers responded to reports of smash and grabs in Downtown Crossing at around 8 p.m. While a police report was not yet available, Torigian said that event notes indicate there were between a baker’s dozen and 30 people suspected. CALEXICO, Calif. -- Over $360,000 worth of methamphetamines were found concealed in a vehicle at the Calexico West Port of Entry Wednesday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said. Police are searching for a suspect after a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound by the waterfront. Investigators say the injured man was located in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard and Bathurst Street just before 9 p.m. Saturday. NEW YORK (AP) — Police have arrested a 17-year-old high school student on a hate-motivated murder charge in the fatal stabbing of a professional dancer during an altercation between two groups of friends at a New York City gas station last weekend.Police took the teenager into custody Friday in connection with the killing of the 28-year-old O’Shae Sibley, who was gay. OAK PARK, Ill. — Two people were injured, one critically, after officials said they touched an energized CTA rail at a stop in Oak Park.According to officials, the two people and a group of friends were going to Lollapalooza when they decided to jump down onto the tracks to take pictures and one person, a male, touched an energized rail. HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Officials responded to a wildfire in Hays County on Saturday, according to the Hays County Office of Emergency Services website.The wildfire, known as the Oak Grove Fire, was reported in the 200 block of Oak Grove Road in San Marcos. It is estimated at 300 acres and 10% contained around 7:30 p.m., according to the Hays County Office of Emergency Management (Hays OEM) and the Texas A&M Forest Service.
