Photos: Colorado peaks see first snowfall of the season

DENVER (KDVR) — It's starting to look like winter on top of some Colorado peaks. Longs PeakLongs Peak, which sits at 14,259 feet, recorded snow just before 7 a.m. Monday. Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Chris Tomer said this was the peak's first snow of the season.The first snow of the season has fallen on Longs Peak on Sept. 11, 2023. (National Park Service)Temperatures on the peak reached 38 degrees with mostly cloudy skies and light winds. Be sure to check the weather forecast before you hike this fall, Longs Peak isn't the only snow-covered mountain.Breck's Five PeaksMother Nature showed a "sneak peak" of the fresh dusting on Breck’s Five Peaks. CROWN POINT, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police arrested Walter R. Thatcher III, 43, following a physical altercation at a residence on Main Street. Thatcher was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree and assault in the third degree. Get the latest news, weather, and sports delivered right to your inbox! Police responded to the residence at around 4 a.m. on Saturday. Investigations determined that the altercation stemmed from a verbal dispute. Thatcher then reportedly grabbed the victim and forcefully removed them off the couch, striking the victim multiple times in the stomach.The victim managed to lock Thatcher out of the residence. Thatcher found an open window, reached through, and grabbed and threw a barstool and a metal show rack. He fled the scene before police arrived.Ticonderoga EMS provided medical attention to the victim. Police located Thatcher sleeping next to the Crown Point Fire Department. PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- Pittsfield Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place Tuesday around 10:45 p.m. on Melville Street. While no arrest has been made, police say there is no immediate threat to the public, and it is believed this was not a random act. Once they arrived, police found a 42-year-old man who appeared to have been stabbed. ST. LOUIS - A man allegedly stole more than $64,000 in cash from Walmart stores nationwide and targeted several St. Louis-area stores in a sleight-of-hand scheme. Mohsen Akbari, 37, has been charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of interstate transportation of stolen property in the investigation. Federal authorities arrested Akbari on Sept. 5. He pleaded not guilty to criminal charges on Monday. He reportedly traveled across the country, entered various retail stores, and used sleight-of-hand techniques to steal cash. ST. LOUIS - A woman died Tuesday afternoon in a south St. Louis County highway crash, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.MSHP has identified the victim as Debra Fitzgerald, 61, of Fenton. Next of kin has been notified. The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri Route 30 near Rahning Road. According to the MSHP crash report, Fitzgerald tried to change lanes as the other driver began to slow down for congested traffic.
