ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Legislature and Sheriff’s Office are taking steps to reduce rising gun violence with a new program.“Throughout COVID and throughout the last 20 years or so in our communities and in Albany County, we’ve seen an explosion in the proliferation of guns, gun violence, not only in our communities, but across our nation," Andrew Joyce, Chairman of the Albany County Legislature, said. ST. LOUIS - The NHL Department of Player Safety has planned a hearing over Jordan Binnington's actions Wednesday in the St. Louis Blues' loss to the Minnesota Wild. Binnington was ejected from Wednesday's game after allowing a go-ahead goal to Minnesota's Ryan Hartman. Moments after Hartman scored the goal, Binnington shoved him down to the ice, striking him with his left-handed goalie pad and stick. After Hartman fell down, it appeared Binnington was trying to push a few more Wild players, though both teams and a referee quickly entered the scrum and the situation deescalated. OVERLAND, Mo. - One officer has been awarded for his swift decision-making to help save a man's life last month. Tony Smythe, an officer with the O'Fallon Police Department, helped on a 72-year-old man in dire need on Feb. 10. Trending: Report details fatal encounter between accused cop killer, Hermann police Smythe recognized that a man was unconscious and quickly pulled out an AED from his patrol vehicle. He administered one shock and performed chest compressions until paramedics arrived. Paramedics then took over the response, helped the man reacquire a pulse, and rushed him to the hospital for treatment. The man is still alive and expected to recover from the situation. LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. -- A head-on collision killed an O'Fallon, Missouri man Wednesday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the victim as 75-year-old Terrence Allen.A 2014 Volkswagen Passat driven by a 25-year-old man was traveling westbound on Route C west of Route OO in Lincoln County at around 3:45pm. The driver overcorrected after veering off the right side of the road. The car traveled across the center of the road and struck a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Allen. A 74-year-old woman who was a passenger suffered moderate injuries in the crash. Drought conditions continue to ease across California thanks to the relentless battering of rain and snowstorms dating back to early in the season.Data released by the U.S. Drought Monitor on Thursday show 44% of the Golden State is completely clear of any drought classification - an improvement from 27% just a week ago.
