Nuggets’ “D” dominates Nets as Nikola Jokic makes more triple-double history Early in Thursday night’s game, Nuggets coach Michael Malone stalked the sideline, waving his arms like the Scarecrow in the “Wizard of Oz,” imploring his team to shut down the Nets’ 3-point machine.“We’ll have our hands full tonight,” Malone said before the game. “One of the areas where we have been struggling is with our 3-point defense. They are a prolific 3-point shooting team, so our 3-point defense, our multiple-effort mentality, and our fly-around mentality are going to be tested.”Not really. The Nuggets, led by history-maker Nikola Jokic, answered Malone’s challenge and ran away with a 124-101 victory.Jokic clinched yet another triple-double in the third quarter to become the first player in NBA history to have 10 or more triple-doubles in seven consecutive seasons, surpassing Oscar Robertson, who had six from 1960-61 through 1965-66. Jokic, who played just 30 minutes, finished the night with 26 points, 15 rebounds a...

SoCal Edison forced to cut residents' power at RV park Residents in a San Bernardino County mobile home park have been scrambling after their electricity was suddenly cutoff more than 24 hours ago, leaving families, elderly residents and others with medical conditions in the lurch.  Many of the increasingly frustrated residents at Fisherman’s Retreat, an RV park off San Timoteo Canyon Road in Redlands, told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson that they are caught between Southern California Edison and Halo Resorts Inc., the owners of the park.  “Unfortunately, we’ve been told by the electric company that the people that run the place haven’t paid the bill for the last couple of months,” Pete Ridder, who has lived in the RV park for 12 years said.  A lot of the residents of Fisher’s Retreat have resorted to candles and flashlights at night, but that doesn’t help keep them warm as the temperatures drop in the evening.  “How do you do that people?” said resident Denise Mahmet. “I have a breathing machine I have to use. I can’t do that...

Ukraine gets EU membership boost, but no new European aid, after setback in US BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union failed to agree on a 50 billion-euro ($54 billion) package in financial aid that Ukraine desperately needs to stay afloat, even as the bloc decided Thursday to open accession negotiations with the war-torn country. The aid was vetoed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, delivering another tough blow to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after he failed this week to persuade U.S. lawmakers to approve an additional $61 billion for Ukraine, mainly to buy weapons from the U.S.The start of accession talks was a momentous moment and stunning reversal for a country at war that had struggled to find the backing for its membership aspirations and long faced obstinate opposition from Orban. Hungary’s leader decided not to veto the accession talks, but then blocked the aid package.“I can inform you that 26 leaders agreed on the (budget negotiation),” European Council President Charles Michel said. “I should be very precise.
