Lineup announced for 2024 Saratoga Jazz Festival SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival is returning in 2024 for its 47th year. The festival is set for June 29 and June 30 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). Dog and cat killed in fire, family escapes safely FERGUSON, Mo. - A tragic morning for a family in ferguson.Their house on Suburban Avenue caught fire a little before 6:00 a.m. Parts of the home are heavily damaged. Amtrak train slams into big rig in Ventura County; 5 hurt At least five people were taken to the hospital after a collision between an Amtrak train and a semi-truck in Ventura County Tuesday evening that blocked traffic and led to the suspension of train service overnight.  The collision occurred in Somis, an unincorporated area of Ventura County, at around 6:20 p.m. on State Route 118 at Sand Canyon Road, according to a post on X, formerly Twitter, by the California Highway Patrol.  Video of the crash scene obtained by KTLA showed a large response by Ventura County Firefighters who responded to the scene to help passengers safely off the train and triage those injured. A new study by the Los Angeles Times found that 6,000 Los Angeles-area buildings are in need of retrofitting. The Times constructed an interactive map that shows residents the status of the buildings they live and work in."A retrofit strengthens earthquake-vulnerable buildings to better withstand shaking, making them less likely to collapse or be damaged," the article stated.Cities that have recently passed retrofit laws include Los Angeles, Torrance, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Culver City, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, according to the report.
