An elderly man died days after a relative was seen choking him in his Long Beach home and the case is being investigated as a homicide.Long Beach police responded to the incident in the 2600 block of Fanwood Avenue around 12:10 p.m. June 8.Responding officers found a woman inside the home leaning over the victims with her hands around his neck, police said.The woman, identified as 52-year-old Jennifer Dail, was taken into custody and the Long Beach Fire Department treated the victim.The man, identified as 83-year-old James Brooks, was alert, had no signs of serious injuries and declined to be taken to a hospital.A preliminary investigation revealed the victim required 24-hour medical care and Dail was caring for him at the time. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Six women are at large after robbing a victim in the Tenderloin overnight Friday, according to the San Francisco Police Department. A woman was robbed in front of a liquor store around 3 a.m. near Eddy Street and Leavenworth Street. (BCN) -- Two more guards at the federal women's prison in Dublin are facing prison time themselves after pleading guilty to several felony charges related to sexual abuse of inmates in their care, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Nakie Nunley and Andrew Jones pleaded guilty to sexually abusing several female inmates and then lying about it to investigators, federal prosecutors said Friday. (KRON) -- A wrong-way driver on Highway 101 north of Santa Rosa collided head-on into oncoming traffic Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Frightened motorists called 911 at 9:44 p.m. reporting that a Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on Highway 101's northbound lanes near Dutcher Creek Road, according to the CHP. "Within minutes of the initial call, a witness reported to Golden Gate CHP dispatch that the wrong-way vehicle caused a head-on crash. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located two vehicles with major damage," the CHP wrote. The CHP said its investigation indicates that, "the driver of the Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound in the wrong direction on northbound US-101.
